Driving
Northbound ➤Driving
From the Maine / New Hampshire border it is approximately 4-hours to Bar Harbor.
Take I-95 North to I-295 through Portland.
The Old Port in Portland is a great place to stop for lunch.
There is also a nice 3.5-mile running path around Back Cove.
Continue on I-295 North, which leads back to I-95 North.
Continue North through Augusta to Bangor.
Exit to I-395 East toward Brewer / Ellsworth.
Exit to Route 1-A East toward Ellsworth.
Stay straight through High Street in Ellsworth to Route 3 / Bar Harbor Road. (Watch for signs for Acadia National Park.)
At the intersection at the head of Mount Desert Island (just beyond the bridge) bear left on Route 3, which leads straight into Bar Harbor.
Southbound ➤Driving
From Houlton, Maine / New Brunswick, Canada border it is approximately 3-hours to Bar Harbor.
Take I-95 South to Bangor.
Exit at I-395 East toward Brewer / Ellsworth.
Exit to Route 1-A East toward Ellsworth.
Stay straight through High Street in Ellsworth to Route 3 / Bar Harbor Road. (Watch for signs for Acadia National Park.)
At the intersection at the head of Mount Desert Island (just beyond the bridge) bear left on Route 3, which leads straight into Bar Harbor.
Westbound ➤Driving
From other points in Canada and all points west refer to many available routes via Dover Foxcroft, the Sugarloaf Mountain region or other points in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Route 2 is extremely scenic and deposits in Bangor.
Follow the directions from Bangor to Bar Harbor as outlined above.

Flying
Bar Harbor (BHB) ➤Flying
Bar Harbor-Hancock County Airport - Trenton, Maine.
Approximately 12-miles / 20-minute drive to Bar Harbor.
BHB is a small commuter airport with daily service to Boston, and points beyond.
Car rental service available.
Several taxi services are also available.
Bangor (BGR) ➤Flying
Bangor International Airport - Bangor, Maine.
Approximately 50-miles / 1-hour, 20-minute drive to Bar Harbor.
BGR offers a broad range of convenient and affordable jet service to New York, Philadelphia, and beyond.
Car rental service available.
Bus service available via Bar Harbor Shuttle.

Portland (PWM) ➤Flying
Portland International Jetport - Portland, Maine.
Approximately 180-miles / 3-hour drive to Bar Harbor.
PWM is Maine's largest aiport!

International travel
From Europe we recommend flying into Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston, Massachusetts.
You may rent a car and drive along the scenic New England coastline, or you may take a bus or commuter flight to Bar Harbor. (See above for options to get to Bar Harbor.)
